Job Description

Tatco is seeking a Controller to lead the financial operations of Tatco Construction and our affiliated businesses. This role is not just about keeping the books. We are looking for a steady, thoughtful leader who will help ensure our financial foundation is strong as we continue to grow.

What You’ll Do

You will oversee finance and accounting across our holding company and subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity in how we understand our financial performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead all accounting and financial reporting functions across multiple entities
  • Prepare timely monthly financial statements with clear analysis and insights
  • Oversee consolidated reporting, intercompany transactions, and eliminations
  • Ensure books and records are maintained in accordance with GAAP
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and standardized processes
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial forecasting
  • Support leadership with data to guide strategic decisions
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger integrity
  • Lead and develop the accounting team

Construction-Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee project accounting, job costing, and financial tracking across projects
  • Manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting, including over/under billings
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
  • Monitor project profitability, margin trends, and cost-to-complete estimates
  • Support billing processes including progress billing, retainage tracking, and change orders
  • Partner with operations leaders to ensure financial clarity on every project

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred
  • Significant accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Strong experience in construction accounting (required)
  • Deep understanding of job costing and project financials
  • Experience with multi-entity organizations and consolidations
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Ability to communicate financial information in a clear, practical way
  • High integrity and attention to detail
