Job Title: Student Account Advisor

Duration: Contract (Temp to Hire)

Location: Orange, CA 92868

Pay Rate: $24-25/hour

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are seeking a detail-oriented Student Account Advisor to support student financial accounts through a blend of customer service, accounts receivable, and collections responsibilities. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, service-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze student account records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve account discrepancies and potential issues.
• Process account corrections to maintain accurate billing and month-end statements.
• Research and resolve complex account matters related to payment plans, billing statements, course registration changes, and financial aid.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and internal departments to coordinate issue resolution.
• Counsel students and families on financial obligations, payment options, and university policies to ensure timely payments.
• Manage and follow up on past-due accounts, including conducting collection outreach.
• Calculate and process student refunds in accordance with federal and institutional guidelines.
• Initiate stop payments for refund checks when necessary.
• Prepare clear and professional written correspondence regarding account inquiries and resolutions.
• Evaluate student accounts to determine registration eligibility and apply appropriate system restrictions.
• Maintain and update accurate payment and financial aid records in the system.
• Utilize internal systems (e.g., ImageNow and student account platforms) to research account history and process transactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate account adjustments and compliance.
• Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounts receivable and/or collections experience
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• High attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Preferred:

• Experience in higher education or student accounts
• Knowledge of financial aid processes
• Familiarity with PeopleSoft or similar systems
